On Sunday, Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One, "They knew the extent of the attack because they saw the preparations for it. We are in discussions with them. It will begin tomorrow afternoon."
Earlier, in a post on Truth Social, he stated that Iran and U.S. allies in the Middle East had requested that the attack be "held off" as an agreement regarding the "scope" of the deal was being reached. The report states that Iran has not yet responded to Trump's remarks. The US President has repeatedly pledged to end the war through negotiations; however, despite such promises, tit-for-tat attacks have resumed at various times.
Speaking aboard Air Force One, Trump declined to specify a timeframe for reaching a deal with Tehran. He said, "We'll see how things turn out. We are ready whenever we want... I don't want to kill people."Trump further stated that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, along with mediators from the United Arab Emirates and Qatar, had requested him not to launch an attack.
He said, "We were fully prepared. They made the request because they believe a deal has been reached. A deal regarding Hormuz has been struck, and there will be a deal regarding the nuclear program as well."Iran's semi-official news agency, Mehr News Agency, has denied Trump's claim. They assert that Tehran made no request to the United States to refrain from further military action. Furthermore, they described Trump's claim as "nothing but a new lie."
Iranian media reported that the country's Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, said on Sunday that negoti ations for an agreement with Oman regarding the Strait of Hormuz are "nearing finalization."
